I used the idea and outline of the Calla Lily for my sculpture because it portrays a very simple and elegant form. Using simplified figurative forms as the style of the piece, I arranged a group of figures in a spiral, just like the petals of the Calla Lily. This spiraling group of figures gives the impression of a choir singing Beethoven’s “Ode to Joy.”
